Operation Noah Video on DVD (Lake Kariba Reservior / Dam, Zimbabwe/Rhodesia

Filmed and narrated by one of the scientists involved in Operation Noah. Operation Noah resulted in the saving of thousands of animals from the area flooded by Lake Kariba, now a massive reservior between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

As the dam began to fill it became evident that thousands of animals were being stranded on islands and were in danger of drowning. Appeals were made and money raised to buy boats and equipment for their rescue and relocation. This project became known as Operation Noah. It was a mammoth task and beset by numerous hazards. Submerged trees and stumps threatened the hulls of the boats and on the islands there were huge concentrations of snakes including the deadly black mamba, which were rescued along with a huge number of other animals.

In places the original film had deteriorated, resulting in some poor picture quality - but that just adds to the charm of this film. This Operation Noah DVD video is a must for anyone who loves African wildlife or has connections to this wonderful part of Africa.

Sorry, the Operation Noah film is not available in VHS video tape - only on DVD. The DVD is in PAL format (the format used in the UK and many other countries), not NTSC (the system used in the USA and a few other countries). Most PC DVD drives and software will play both PAL and NTSC DVDs. If you are outside the UK please check you have equipment capable of playing PAL DVDs before ordering.

Two hundred and twenty kilometres long and in places up to forty kilometres wide, it provides considerable electric power to both Zambia and Zimbabwe and supports a thriving commercial fishing industry.
